Has our weak economy created more menial jobs?

Working at McDonalds has always been a menial job. Perhaps other jobs are menial now too. As prices increase, small paychecks become more like what I used to make at Wendy's. Does anyone agree?Has our weak economy created more menial jobs?

a weakening economy does not mean that jobs then become menial. it just means that the focus of the economy's development actually changes. i would say that the high paying jobs from industries that are still booming would be increasing in pay. just that employees are not able to switch their skills into that industry as yetHas our weak economy created more menial jobs?
yes I agree. For example someone making 15/hr 5 years ago and someone making 15 now is two different things. As gas increases more, it bites more into your paycheck if you drive, catch the bus or carpool. Food prices have increased which cuts into things more too. it is harder and harder now, energy prices keep going up, if you won property, taxes will rise as fuel cost increase for the firedepartment for the police etc. the squeeze is onHas our weak economy created more menial jobs?
McDonald's used to be called an "opportunity". Individuals were proud to have the work, do the job with pride and get paid. In my HS days, McDonald's paid $2.02 an hour. Guys and gals were glad to get it.



Today, things are different. The culture in fast food joints is horrible. Many workers are not English speaking people. Many are trying to support families.
