Are the people with low income jobs considered slaves in now times?

if you could compare jobs now like McDonald's- to other low income jobs in past societies and countries- like the people that build pyramidsmy question is: are we considered slaves with cheap labor? when all celebrities are making the $$$?Are the people with low income jobs considered slaves in now times?
People in low income jobs are usually there because of circumstance or lack of choice.

They still demonstrate a high self esteem as they would rather work than take handouts or be considered lazy or unemployable.

Not everyone can or wants to be the boss , these people can better themselves and there circumstances if they want they are still free to make choices.Unfortunately society is not so forgiving and allows people to be repressed because of their background, race, criminality, sex or mental capacity.

Celebrities make the big bucks because we demand access to these people via magazines , films, books , news. Celebrities sell and make money for many industries and people.Celebrities are an industry.

As long as we hunger for the stories that bring people into the spotlight and "worship ' and idolize ' these people the more they will make and the more income they will generate for their industries.

Human nature is the problem here...... not people trying to go through this world making an honest dollar.

Maybe some jobs in the developed world could be considered slavery such as paying asylum seekers 20p/cent an hour etc but I think there really is modern day slavery in china and india's sweat shops making items for rich westerners. These people have little sleep and food as they work so hard and children are stolen to work in these industry's, these people really are slaves.

Also there is a big trade of prostitutes from Eastern Europe currently being forced to sell their body's and take part in some pretty disgusting acts.

Its un-nerving and shameful that people are still being treated this way.Are the people with low income jobs considered slaves in now times?
not slaves no

slaves dont have much of a choice in their 'work

they dont get paid much if at all

they are treated very badly and have no real rights

even mcdonald's workers have rights ;-D

the real cheap labour is in the very poor third world countries, they could be classed as slaves

they have no choice in their job, they NEED the work and may not get any more

they have little pay and few rights

celebrities make lots of money, but they loose their mind, look at most of them

they are not happy people and certainly not sane

money isnt a bearer of sanity, but it can help take it away because it brings with it power and control

when you have too much of that, as celebs do, it does not bode well for your sanity
Cristiano Ronaldo is considered the best football player of the world; he's the highest payed player in Manchester United, yet FIFA President allegedly said he was treated as a ''slave'' when MANU wouldn't let him go.

A slave is someone who has been compelled by force to work, or who allows himself to be brought off for money.

If a person is earning honest income, refuses to accept bribes, has the freedom to choose his jobs, he isn't a slave.

Do you think that regardless of what a person does for a living, we should all make the same amount of money, or if not the same, then a lot more than is being paid now? You have to think: "what do I have to offer an employer as far as experience and skills and education?" when applying for a job. People who are celebrities have a talent to sell, and we foolishly spend our hard earned money on them. But the point is, the celebrity has a talent. Other people who are making a great salary have most likely spent a lot of time in school or training...they have investing their time and money into making something better of themselves.

It's up to each of us to make our lives better. There are tons of opportunities. Spend time and energy on learning what you can do to better yourself.
We are all slaves to the system. To respond to answer one, I have an education, 2 college degrees in fact. I have a "career" a better paying job than many. I'm grateful but my home is very small and average, we pay the bills but just barely. We always work overtime just to get by. We will never be free.
There is a reason we have a term 'wageslave'.

Namely, people doing a job that's literally torture, out of obligation. Some of them are minimum wage, but all the way up the ladder are people doing work they really don't want to do.
You read the bill on your Citibank Card or other credit card agreement?

You think they don't own you till you pay off every cent?

That's no different than what's in the Bible.

(Probably also why the Bible says don't lend or borrow money).
The people that built pyramids were highly paid skilled workers dear.

Slaves were not paid at all, they belonged to their masters and could be sold as commodities.
Oh no. But if celebrities like Tom Cruise don't get paid millions of dollars to donate to Scientology, how else will scam religions survive?
No.

You are still free, and can earn an education and get a better job.

Slaves were not free and did not have options.
In some ways slaves were better off. No chances of eviction for getting behind with the rent.
No, I think that title should go to non violent criminals serving time in prison.
i have gimp who gets less than minimum wage
