How is McDonalds to work at?

im 15 (16 in 3 weeks) and i just signed up for a McDonalds job, i find out if i get the job in the next 2 days.

How is it working at McDonalds? im hoping to work the cash register, but i dare say il probably get stuck making fries or something...

Is it really hard work for the money? Im expecting it to be, but i thought id ask on here for people who have worked there opinionsHow is McDonalds to work at?
Haha. I just got a job there about 3 months ago. To be honest, for me, it fu*king sucks.

I am a cashier. It gets pretty lonely. Depending on what time of the day it is and how busy we are, I'm usually the only one up front. So I get to deal with cranky customers all day by myself. Other than that, all I really do is make ice cream, coffee drinks, stock anything that belongs up front, and clean the lobby.

Personally I would rather be making fries than be a cashier. Reason why is because usually (depending on the restaurant layout), the people that make fries are in the same exact area as the order presenters and drive thru people. They're always laughing together and having fun while they work. So despite the fact that you'd smell really bad after work because you're right next to the fryer, it's worth it so you can have fun while you do repetitive work all day.

It's a piece of cake to be honest. The work itself isn't hard. Everything is an easy task. It's the amount of time you have to get the task done in that sucks, and dealing with the frustration that you do the same exact thing every day. I swear I'm starting to feel like a robot. But I remind myself that I'm getting paid to do this crap. It helps immensely to know that this is better than being flat broke in a very bad economy.

Some advice I have for you if you get hired:

1. Being fast IS a must. You may not think that it is, and neither did I when I started. I thought it was just a dramatic affect for them to keep you on your toes, but it's not. Since I've been there, they've already fired over 5 people just because they were too slow. McDonalds I've realized is all about being FAST FAST FAST! They have a reputation to hold up with being FAST food. So don't take your time unless it's your first week or so, because then they know you're still learning. But after at least 2 weeks, you are expected to know your job and do it fast.

2. If you have to deal with an angry customer, keep your cool by reminding yourself in your head that 95% of the time, it's not your fault, it's the customers fault for being so stupid and not realizing that they fu*ked themselves over. My first real angry customer was an old man who's voice was really low and shakey, and I kept having to ask him to please repeat himself because I couldn't understand what he was saying. Then he snapped at me, made a scene, and started yelling at me because he comes in every day, asks for the same thing, and that I'm the person at the register who always screws up his order every day. It was my 3rd day at the job, and I'd never seen this guy in my life. It's usually stupid things like that. People like to blame other people for their problems. Don't take it personally. People are just really stupid. Just keep reminding yourself that. Lol.

3. After work you'll clock out, and the machine will give you a receipts of how long you worked that day. Keep those receipts so you have proof of when you worked. I dunno about out there, but out here a lot of employees have come in complaining that they're missing hours. Keep those receipts as proof of your hours.

Other than that, I wish you luck in getting the job! Hope this was helpful. Take care.
McDonalds is an awesome job, trust me I've been working there full time for a year, if you follow their policies and procedures you'll be fine and your job will be a hell of a lot easier. The first few shifts you get will be on fries, but after that they will train you in either serving, or preparing. How is McDonalds to work at?
