Just tell them at that point in time you were facing issues in your life that you have overcome. Tell them that you have learned and grown from that experience at that working with this company means a lot to you.

But always remember to wear nice clothes (not super nice, it's just McDonalds) and to be super clean. Small studs for earrings, clean finger nails, smell good. No flip flops. And be really smiley and happy, a real people person. Don't be afraid to laugh slightly here and there. You just have to seem very likable, especially if you plan to work in a place that provides services (food) to other people.
