What kind of ID do they use, and social security numbers etc..?? and what is done by the govt when they discover discrepancies with these ID's like if the social security number is a bogus one or if it belongs to an another real american citizen?



Lastly, I heard that the federal govt actually allows illegal aliens to file taxes and allows them to file under some other number other than a social security number.

Since the US Chamber of Commerce has fought tooth and nail, under both Republican and Democratic administrations, any insistence on verifying the status of a worker, this is unlikely to change any time soon. This makes it difficult for the government to respond, since the problems are rarely caught.

As to filing taxes, they could use the fake SS ID if they wanted, but that would likely get them caught. Many employers, knowing they can't file, will deduct the taxes and keep them for themselves.
