As a current employee, McDonalds does not always have jobs. And do not think that you will 100% get hired. I know a guy who came up to me and he's like, "hey you work at McDonalds. I'm going to apply there because everybody gets hired." He turned the questionaire in and he didn't get hired. He didn't even get an interview.
I would call and ask if they are hiring. The managers are supposed to be the ones answering so it shouldn't be a problem getting a hold of them. If they are, you can go down that day or the next. Just go up to the registers and ask for an application politely. If you want to turn it in right away just find a seat and fill it out and turn it in. You could take it home and bring it back completely filled out. The managers or whoever will tell you the next step. For the store I work at, the applicant comes back on a Tuesday from 4-5 to do the questionaire and then the managers look at it and then decide if there is an interview. If so, they do the interview and if they get hired, it's either immediate or a call back. Good luck!
As far as clothes is concerned, jeans and a nice collared shirt would do. I wore jeans and a nice top. McDonalds is not looking for business attire. If you wear that, it might give some humor to the workers.
Dress up decently. Clean, neat pants, and a shirt with a collar. Go the the store when it's not too busy... usually between 2 and 4 in the afternoon is the best time. Bring your own pen! Ask the cashier for an application, sit down and fill it out. Keep in mind there's a good chance the manager is already sizing you up, so sit straight and look thoughtful!

Those companies make millions of dollars a year and could afford to pay their workers 20 dollars an hour and still make a profit without raising costs.Why dont americans unionize jobs such as McDonalds and Wal-Mart?
Actually, billions of dollars a year in profits. Wal-Mart (WMT) posted $11.39 Billion in net income (revenue - expenditure). And yes, there have been studies shown that if Wal-Mart brought it's wages back up to industry standard, they would still be a very profitable company.
However, unions are complicated and serve to differentiate workers from the general population, not serve the best interests of everyone. And, unions are not the right answer for low-skilled/low-wage earners. For instance, the reason why autoworkers have a powerful union is because Ford or Chevy can't just hire anyone off the street to build a car or operate machinery. Nor can Delta grab one if it's passengers out of first class and have them fly a 747. The more skilled and irreplaceable a worker, the more power unions have. Wal-Mart and McDonalds pay their workers hardly anything because they have developed a system to where just about anyone can be thrown into a Wal-Mart or McDonalds and have all the training they would need to be an effective employee in a day or so. Furthermore, there's less and less demand for low-skilled workers in today's global economy. Typical low-skilled jobs in manufacturing have headed overseas, and if you don't posses the skills in today's world to succeed, you're out of luck. Still, too many unskilled service jobs in the US remain underpaid. But is that fair to low-skilled American labor?
Unfortunately, I don't think it is. It was recently reported that the drop-out rate in Los Angeles area high schools was as high as 25%. While it's important to provide education for our nation's youngsters and propel them into workforce, children coming from well established backgrounds have a much, much better chance at succeeding. Conversely, kids that come from 'the other side of the tracks' have a much much lower chance at succeeding and do not proceed into adulthood with the skills they need to earn a respectable living. And to clarify respectable, I mean above the poverty line.

A montly bus pass in Los Angeles, and most major cities, is about $50/mo. per person, or $100/mo. for both. So far, our theoretical couple has spent $1,240 of their $1600 budget. That leaves $360 for health care, entertainment, clothing, household goods (toilet paper, soap, towels, TV), and retirement savings (even minimum wage earners aren't exempt from social security payments). Obvioulsy, $360 is not enough to cover all that. Throw in a child or a relative that is too old/sick to work, and it becomes a very very dire situation.
When basic needs aren’t met, the government has developed programs to help since the images of third world living conditions are not pleasant for Americans to see on CNN. Welfare programs provide food stamps, health care, housing subsistence, and other benefits to those most in need so they can survive. I work at mcdonalds n I make pretty good money compared to other jobs the one I got offers me dependable hours and a decent paycheck and in a time when its hard to find a job ppl should b grateful for any oprotunity to work im proud to say I work for my money instead of gettin the gov to suport me I am 18 and I can suport myself better than some ppl far older than me thanks to what u say is a horrible job

I work at mcdonalds n I make pretty good money compared to other jobs the one I got offers me dependable hours and a decent paycheck and in a time when its hard to find a job ppl should b grateful for any oprotunity to work im proud to say I work for my money instead of gettin the gov to suport me I am 18 and I can suport myself better than some ppl far older than me thanks to what u say is a horrible job
Well the only thing he could do to help job growth would be to get out of the way. A free market economy with no intervention produces maximum employment, and can sustain it the longest. Any intervention can take away from the optimal results of the free market.

What are my chances in getting a job at McDonalds?
I just sent my application to McDonalds today. I was wondering if my chances are high in getting the job there because they aren't hiring at the moment. Also, when should I expect a call from them for an interview? Or am I supposed to call them about it? Oh, btw, I'm 15.What are my chances in getting a job at McDonalds?

This answer is two-fold (possibly more).. 1. though they are not hiring right now, they usually will keep an application/resume on file for 3 months to 6 months.. I don't know if it is law or not, but it is almost a standard practice at all the businesses I have applied to (unfortunately it has been more than I'd like it to in my life).. so you may get called at some point when you even forgot you applied there.
2. Normally you would follow up to see how your application is doing, but when they aren't hiring at the time it isn't a good practice as you already know that your application isn't being looked at at this time. But you could come in every once in a while to speak with the assistant or hiring managers about any turn over (workers quit or get fired) they may have had recently and subtly remind them your app is on file.
3. It is a bad economy at this time and even though McDonald's is a world wide, successful corporation they too have to adjust to the changing times.. your 15 and have very few hours where you can legally work.. they have to consider the cost of training you, and providing uniforms and other benefits you may be eligible for against the payoff of having someone who can work 4 hours a day if that and can't work past certain hours at night.. I am telling you this for the real probability that they may think that hiring a 15 year old is impractical.What are my chances in getting a job at McDonalds?

All my friends apply to McDonalds if they can't find a job lmao. Most of them get hired. You should expect a call between 1-3 weeks of sending in your application, if they're hiring.

What kind of jobs can I get with some college credits?
I've been going to college, earning my credits, and now I have to get a job and make money before I can go back.
Most of my college credits are liberal arts area. I have a year or so of grocery store working experience.
Should I settle for typical high school jobs like McDonalds, grocery store, or is there a slightly better paying job that I can get some some college credits? If so what are those?
